The unicycle is just about as high as your average bicycle. Therefore the first thing you need to do is adjust the seat to a comfortable level. This should be a bit lower than your usual bike riding level. Your legs must be bent when the pedal is at the bottom of the revolution. At their highest, your limbs should form an angle of about seventy degrees.
Next, practice sitting on it next to a wall. To do this, place your unicycle on level ground. Climb on the seat, using the wall to brace yourself. Do not attempt to go anywhere just yet. Make sure that you get used to sitting on it first.
Work on your balance by putting equal pressure on the pedals with each foot. Remember that your feet should be level but staggered, with the pedals sitting halfway through their motion. Again, maintain your position and just try to maintain balance.
When you feel that you have the hang of it, attempt to ride forward and backward. If you feel that you are about to fall, prioritise landing on your two feet while letting the unicycle crash to the ground.
Once you can effectively ride the cycle on level ground, find a curb to jump off on. Look for one that is about average and simply ride off it. After mastering this trick, you can practice jumping onto that same curb or invent more daring stunts.
